Thales previously announced the DMO was ordering 254 Bushmasters in August 2007. The extra 39 are a recent additional requirement.
As a result, the total of Bushmaster variants ordered has now reached over 800. This includes 736 for the Australian Defence Force, 49 exported to the Netherlands, 15 FireKing vehicles to ForestrySA, and other smaller orders.
Chris Jenkins, Thales Australia's managing director, said the extra Bushmasters were an indication of the vehicle's success.
"This order shows that the Bushmaster is very much in demand, and follows on from its successful deployment in Afghanistan and Iraq."
"It is a versatile platform for many different capabilities. Thales's engineering and integration teams have significant experience working with a wide range of technologies that can be successfully added to the vehicle. "
"This flexibility means we can offer many capabilities to the ADF and other customers, and they can rely on our expertise to meet and exceed their requirements."
