Thales is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Learjet Inc. to provide a spoiler system on the new Learjet 85* aircraft. Launched on October 30, 2007, .....

... the new Learjet 85 aircraft will be the first Bombardier Aerospace jet to feature an all-composite structure and will be the first all-composite structure business jet designed for type certification under Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 25.

Thales' Spoiler System Solution for the new Learjet 85 aircraft consists of one digital flight control computer supplied by Thales as well as the integration of the spoiler control lever and the actuation system. Thales uses the latest evolution of its Dual Flight Control Computer architecture contained within robust packaging designed for composite aircraft environmental conditions. The system architecture is designed to ensure that all stringent safety, certification and operational dispatch requirements are met using a dual-lane computer in a compact 3 MCU line replaceable unit.

"This contract marks another chapter in a long-standing collaboration with Bombardier. We are committed to the success of the new Learjet 85 aircraft by ensuring the development, production and support for the spoiler control system. Thales is a recognized leader in fly-by-wire flight control technology in the business and regional aircraft market, in addition to the commercial transport market, and we anticipate continued expansion over the next several years in this domain," said M. Alain Boursier, Thales, Vice President in charge of regional and business jet aircraft and General Manager of Thales Canada.

The Learjet 85 aircraft's spoilers system is the latest Bombardier system to be developed by Thales at its headquarters for regional and business aircraft located in Montreal, also home of the Center of Excellence for electrical flight controls technology. Thales products are on current Bombardier programs including the Global Express* business jet, DASH 8* turboprop, CRJ700*, CRJ900* and CRJ1000* commercial airliners. Thales' expertise in flight controls and its strong partnerships with major aircraft manufacturers worldwide allow it to provide a complete offering for system design and integration as well as flexible system architecture.

Thales will be showcasing its expertise and innovative solutions for the business aircraft sector on stand #789 at NBAA in Orlando, Florida.
