Employees from Thales UK`s Weybridge site have raised more than £410 for Marie Curie Cancer Care in their latest charity initiative.

Staff ran an indoor continental market sale, serving espresso coffee and croissants, with stalls selling CDs, DVDs and other unwanted gifts that people had donated.

Staff have also been collecting old mobile phones, which can be recycling through a scheme run by Marie Curie Cancer Care. We have so far reached over £60 from only 20 handsets.

Taking advantage of the international presence and business travel of the company Thales employees are also continually contributing to the Marie Curie Cancer Care scheme, turning unwanted foreign change into currency. The money raised will help provide more care for patients with cancer.

Marie Curie Cancer Care is one of Thales UK's corporate charities. The charity provides Marie Curie Nurses who care for terminally ill people in their own homes, surrounded by the people they love the most.

Following Thales UK's success last year in raising £100,000, Thales has set itself an even more ambitious target of raising £130,000 for this worthy cause, and staff in each of the 50-plus offices will all run different events in order to contribute.

Every £20 raised will help Marie Curie Cancer Care fund one hour of nursing care in the home, allowing patients to be with their families during their last days.

"Marie Curie Cancer Care is an outstanding charity and we're proud to be supporting them. Their dedication to and care of terminally ill patients are second to none," says John Howe, Vice Chairman of Thales UK.

If you have unwanted mobile phone handsets or old foreign coins please drop them in to our office at 2 Dashwood Lang Road, The Bourne Business Park, Addlestone, KT15 2NX.
